We believe children belong in families.

More than 5.6 million in Ethiopia are missing one or both of their parents. These children often become trapped in the cycle of institutional care. HFTF is working to end this.

THE CRISIS

More than 5.6 million children in Ethiopia are missing one or both parents. In 2018, inter-country adoption was banned, but there is not yet a strong culture of domestic foster care or adoption.

THE CYCLE

Vulnerable children often end up trapped in institutional care. Those aging out of orphanages are at high risk for unplanned pregnancy. The resulting child often is abandoned in an orphanage, continuing the cycle.

THE SOLUTION

We believe each orphaned or vulnerable child should be placed in a FAMILY  through one of these ways:  reunification, kinship placement, foster care, domestic adoption and/or small

group homes.
